يسمى الدرس الأول في المنهج الجديد «Atomic structure»، ومحتوياته كالتالي:

What is an Atom?

An atom is the smallest unit of matter that still has the properties of an element.

Parts of an atom:

Protons: protons are positively charged particles found in the nucleus of an atom.

Neutrons: neutrons have no charge and are also found in the nucleus of an atom.

Electrons: electrons are negatively charged particles that move around the nucleus in fixed orbits.

How atoms combine?

Atoms can join the form molecules. This happens when electrons are shared or transferred.

Why atoms are important?

Atoms make up everything around us. From the air we breathe to the food we eat.
