Eid al-Fitr Prayer

Eid al-Fitr Prayer

Eid al-Fitr Prayer Time 2026 in the UK for All Cities

The British Muslim community is preparing to welcome the month of Shawwal on Friday, March 20, 2026, as per the astronomical consensus.

Identifying the correct Eid al-Fitr prayer time in the United Kingdom is essential for the millions who plan to attend services in major cities like London, Birmingham, and Manchester.

Due to the expected winter weather conditions in late March, many organizers have moved the "Eid in the Park" events to large indoor venues or consecutive shifts within major mosques.

United Kingdom Eid al-Fitr Prayer Schedule 2026

London's iconic East London Mosque has scheduled four prayer shifts to accommodate the massive turnout, starting at 7:30 AM.

Subsequent sessions are set for 8:30 AM, 9:30 AM, and a final 10:30 AM service that includes British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation.

Meanwhile, the London Central Mosque at Regent's Park will hold prayers every hour from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Outside the capital, major mosques in Birmingham and Manchester are expected to fix their Eid al-Fitr prayer time in the United Kingdom at 8:30 AM.

Worshippers are reminded that Zakat al-Fitr (Fitrana) for 2026 is estimated at approximately £8 per person and must be paid before the prayer begins.

Organizers stress the importance of arriving at least 45 minutes before the scheduled Eid al-Fitr prayer time in the United Kingdom to ensure a smooth flow of people and to comply with local parking regulations.

Since Eid falls on a Friday this year, mosques are planning a rapid turnaround to clean and prepare for the Jumu'ah (Friday) afternoon prayers shortly after the morning celebrations end.

The Eid prayer is a Sunnah Mu'akkadah (strongly recommended) act of worship. It consists of two Rak'ahs and is characterized by the audible recitation of the Quran and additional Takbirs.

A unique feature of this year is the "Eid-Jumu'ah overlap," where those attending the morning Eid prayer are granted a jurisprudential concession allowing them to skip the Friday congregational prayer and instead pray Dhuhr at home.

Families often celebrate by wearing traditional clothes and sharing meals, making the Eid al-Fitr prayer time in the United Kingdom a centerpiece of the community's religious and social life.
